Basically, anybody who can create seamless transition between songs without dancers having to change their dance rhythm is a DJ.
Accra-Kumasi DJ awards would have been a good tag for the Ghana DJ awards but the organizers after the event drew my attention to the fact that it was rather Accra DJ awards.
As the saying goes, hard work pays and it is obvious that no pain no gain. Rewarding people for the good work done is in the right direction since it keeps young and coming people in their respective fields on their toes.
26TH October, 2012 was supposed to have been the date for Ghana DJ
awards but was postponed on the eve of the event. According to the
organisers of the event, it was due to some technical hitches beyond
their control. The event was therefore shifted to 15TH February, 2013 as
if that would never come; lo and behold the set date came within a
twinkle of an eye.Accra-Kumasi DJ awards would have been a good tag for the Ghana DJ awards but the organizers after the event drew my attention to the fact that it was rather Accra DJ awards.

But enough of my brouhaha let me hit the nail right at the head. The so much anticipated mega Chaka Ghana DJ awards messed up intoto. For a moment I thought I was at a comic event since the MC ‘DKB’ almost turned the event into a comic show.
Several Artists were on stage to perform, the likes of Stone from brodas fame, stonebuoy gave an outstanding performance, D3, Diamond, Nicolas Omane Acheampong but the rest came on stage to take part of the blame for the organizers.
I was completely taken aback when some presenters where called on stage for winning awards. Some of those presenters don’t even know how to use simple computer DJ players’ talk of Manual players. I was moved to pity after realising that the winners only went on stage to have a feel of the award and thereafter left it for other award winners to have a feel of it, this is absolutely preposterous and as a matter of fact a dent on the organizers reputation
DJ’s from Kumasi and the Eastern Region were fortunate to have nominees but unfortunately couldn’t carry any award home, except DJ Slim from Kapital Radio-Kumasi .All award winners were Accra base DJ’S. Sorry to the other nominees who couldn’t have a feel of the award.
Electronic voting system was used for voting, but after the event,I realised that nominees with the least votes won in their respective categories, for instance DJ Toffeakwa of Angel FM had 55%, while Akwasi Aboakye of peace FM had 9% but the Gospel DJ went to Akwasi Aboakye (Peace FM ). DJ Kess was leading as the Best Female DJ according to www.ghanadjawards.com but the winner happened to be Jessica who can’t even use any computer DJ player. Discovery DJ of the year, DJ Vission of YFM had 1%, DJ Loft of Hitz FM had 34% and DJ Blay of Obuoba FM, Nkawkaw had 38% but unfortunately the one with 1% vote won the award.
According to the organizers of the show, 20 Djs should have performed with Artists like Kaakie, Okyeame Kwame, Stay Jay, VIP, YAW SIKI, RNM, BINO etc, but none of these artists showed up and there was nothing like performances from DJS. It later came to bare that those Artist didn’t show up simply because they were not paid.
Thank you Heavenly Father for making this show possible even though it was a flop, I pray that You make it a success in the years to come, Let all believers say a big AMEN.
