2 Cops Grabbed For Robbery

Two Police Constables, together with their civilian accomplice, have been arrested by the police for robbery.
No 43705G/C2 Constable Augustine Nti Peprah 31, stationed at Gomoa Feteh in the Central Region and No 43681G/C2 constable Eric Anto 27, also stationed in Sunyani RDF and Anthony Dagadu 30, were alleged to have robbed a 4×4 unregistered Infiniti vehicle from its owner in Koforidua in the Eastern Region.
The suspects, however, took the vehicle to Gomoa Buduburam camp, in the Central Region, where it had been cannibalized, until police grabbed them acting upon a tip off on April 12, 2013.
Briefing the media, the Accra Regional Police Commander, DCOP Christian Tetteh Yohuno,  said on Friday, April 4, 2013, at about 3:45am, police  intelligence revealed that an unregistered Infiniti vehicle was been cannibalised at Gomoa Budumburam camp in the Central Region by some suspected police personnel.
The police team quickly rushed to the scene and arrested suspect Constable Augustine Peprah with the snatched vehicle.
The team conducted a search on the vehicle and found a full police uniform and an amount of GHC1700 in the vehicle.
In the course of police investigation, it revealed that Augustine Nti Peprah and Eric Anto were police officers who were dismissed from the service a year ago.
The investigations revealed that the three snatched the vehicle from its owner while wearing police uniforms in Koforidua around 10:30pm, on Thursday April 11, 2013.
The suspects, investigations revealed, committed the act with Anthony Dagadu, a civilian accomplice.
On April 13, 2013, police succeeded in arresting Eric Antoh and Anthony Dagadu from their hide-out at Kasoa and Accra respectively after succeeding in arresting Augustine.
Police observed that the two dismissed policemen had teamed up with civilian accomplices to snatch vehicles from people after which they  transported them to other regions for sale.
He asked the public to assist the police, especially those who had fallen victims to this crime to help in their investigations.
DCOP Yohuno urged police personnel on barrier duties to be weary of people who use the barrier at night in security uniforms.
He noted that most of the recalcitrant security personnel wore the uniform to commit crime in society.
