Two Nigerians Arrested With “Wee”

Two Nigerians, who attempted to transport about 115 parcels of compressed dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp from Ghana to their native country, have been nabbed by the police.

The suspects were arrested on board a bus travelling from Accra New Town to Aflao in the Volta Region.

They are Kola Abdul Aziz, 30, and Yussif Abudu Rahman, 18.

The dried leaves, which were compressed with brown cello tape, were concealed in a ‘Ghana Must Go” bag.

The suspects are currently in the custody of the Accra Regional Police Command assisting in investigations.

Briefing DAILY GUIDE, ACP Timothy Yoosah Bonga, the Deputy Accra Regional Police Commander, said the suspects were arrested upon a tip-off at Newtown around 7pm on Monday, May 27, 2013.

The suspects were on board a Benz Spinter bus from Accra New Town to Afloa when police stopped the bus to inspect it.

When the items were discovered in the boot of the vehicle, the two claimed ownership and stated that they bought the items from one Ahmed of New town.

The suspects however failed to trace the whereabouts of the said Ahmed.

Some of the exhibits have been sent to the forensic laboratory for examination while police continue with investigations.

ACP Yoosa Bonga urged the public to volunteer information to combat crime in the country.
